Space Science Honors! The Final Post!!!

Throughout the semester, we did a number of activities and projects.  Overall I enjoyed making the Moon poster.  I liked that it was based mainly on our opinions and we had the choice to do whatever we wanted to do with it.  The technology that I enjoyed using the most was Glogster.  I had fun making the online poster and using the different elements to make it pop.
My least favorite topic was the star formation theory and top down web.  It was hard for me to remember the order they went in and the definitions for all of the star types.   The one program that I did not enjoy working with was the Prezi.  It was confusing to begin with and I had some difficulty understanding how to use it.
Overall I had a good time in Space Science, but if there was one thing i could change, it would probably be the notes.  I ended up learning everything i needed to, but all of the power points kind of confused me.  I would insted give out worksheets or have more class discusions.
The hardest thing to comprehend in class was the star formation, and the universe formation theories.  Although I understand them now, I had a hard time wrapping my mind around all of the facts, and information.  A lot of the theories amazed me and I still cant believe that science has gotten so advanced.
I had a great time in Space Science Honors, and I enjoyed learning the things I did.

EM SPECTRUM!!!

The EM Spectrum is made up of radiation types, when talked about as a group. Astronomers use the Spectrum to look into space, take x rays, locate new and old stars, and develop new theories. Three themes, or concepts that we learned about were: the order in which the colors went by (ROY G BIV), The way the waves changed, and how frequency, energy and wavelengths all work together with similar properties. I would still like to know a couple things about the EM Spectrum, one thing I would like to know is if the EM Spectrum used for other things outside of the science field? Another question I have is about the different wave lengths: are they always represented by wave like patterns? I enjoyed choosing the design for my newsletter, it was fun picking out the layout. I didn't like some of the questions asked on the word document, i thought some of them were to broad. If I could change anything about the project it would be the questions, we had to answer. I think that we should have been able to use other resources if we could not find the direct answer.

Star Project!!!

Mego and I researched the Orion Nebula.  This nebula is located 1,500 light years away.  Our project consisted of multiple facts on each of the given topics, and we set it up to look like a cloud.  I liked this project because we were able to work with a partner (Meg Meg)  and we also could be creative with the layout.  The thing I didn't like about this project was the guidelines, I thought that they were just a little to broad.  If I could change anything about this project it would be the directions, I thought that the ones given to us were good, but I would make them more detailed.

Space Science Intro

My name is Lauren, and I'm in 9th grade.  I like playing softball, piano, and occasionally I crochet.  I am in multiple clubs including; Student Ambassadors, Peer Outreach, Agents of Change and FBLA.  I have a job helping out at my religious school every Tuesday, and Thursday.  The reason I chose to take an honors course is because I enjoy space science, and I wanted to challenge myself.  By taking this class, I hope to further my knowledge about space, and learn things that I find interesting.
